![]() ![]() I took the liberty of correcting the spelling of integrated and here below is the actual post processor. Looks a bit like VisualBasic to me but maybe C or something else. Okay I did not realize their was more to the post processor. Anyone want to help an old geezer tune his torch. What I need is a mentor with great patience to teach me how to handle this. Considering the Proma does not send a signal to mach4 I assume those three are of no use but I do not know what variables are going to be read if I turn "Include touchoff" to enabled on the Mach4 plasma screen. I see it has inputs labeled probe1,2 etc and further along THC ON THC UP THC DOWN. I do not know where in the input configuration to reference the touch off signal. Mach4 has a THC display but I have not used it so far. I know that sheetcam creates gcode to comply with various software that will run the gcode but I have no idea how the post processor works or what should be in it. I know it has a THC screen but I have not used that and am not sure where to reference the input for a THC. So I know that mach4 needs to get some signal to do a touch off. I think this should fix everything except maybe the long cuts around the perimeter of a large part. I figure that the way to compensate for this is to have the torch touch off on the metal each time before starting a new cut. ![]() This THC brought a lot of improvement to my cutting but it tends to drift too far one way or the other. ![]() Jack Benny had a sitcom back when radio was king and he was very tight (for younger readers). I am the Jack Benny sort of cheap so I bought a PromaSD THC. I started off thinking I could get by without a THC but soon found out the warping would not allow that. When the torch is off the Proma just passes the mach4 signal to the stepper controller. When the torch is on the Proma takes total control of the Z axis and mach4 has no idea of the torch height as it gets no feedback from the Proma. The Proma gets the Z signal from mach4 and outputs to the stepper controller. Old geezer builds his first cnc project a plasma table. ![]() I will describe my situation so you guys will know where I am at and where I want to go. That is a lot to include in a post subject for sure. ![]()
